I grew up with these Scotsman. I embarrassingly hummed, yelped at the top of my lungs in a karaoke-like fashion, air-guitared – heck, air-drummed to all of their indie beats in all of the homes I have moved to. I even danced a little. I know they’re proud of that.
With hits like ‘Take Me Out’, ‘This Fire’, ‘Do You Want To’, and newly released ‘Ulysses’ and ‘No You Girls’, where can one go wrong?
There has been no other like Alex Kapranos in my life. Does he realize he makes me feel dirty as he effortlessly releases his cool sound into the open air, leaving me frantic for more? His fellow guitarist, Nicholas McCarthy doubles as backup and a second set of brazenly eyes. These two lads are just among one of the few artists that come to mind where the instruments have not been the same damn chords and rhythm. Nonetheless, together they do not complete the set but rather ensure that the listener does not stop dancing. We shan’t forget the movement of Bob Hardy’s impish fingers as he licks the bass and mostly the backbone of it all; nothing can be compared Paul’s incessant tisses of the hi-hats that purges one to the mental state of gritty, artistic vanity.
But that is what it has always been about. Tasteful, artistic fuel and nothing less. Might I mention the vanity of the music is simply being fucking awesome? You are also free to express it through your body or image in whatever way you please.
My humble and undeserving ode to Franz Ferdinand.
I have to get a hold of some more Franz. They are exceptionally solid. Btw, love the name of your blog, keep it up!
Indeed they are! Thanks Thea :)
